For the first time in five years, the Tomsk customs initiated criminal investigations regarding the facts of non-repayment of currency from abroad. In summary, for the last six months the law-enforcing authorities of the Tomsk customs initiated 21 criminal investigations and 136 investigations against administrative offences, the Tomsk customs press office says. Among those investigations, there are investigations against non-repayment of currency monetary funds from abroad.
With respect to three criminal investigations the crimes consisted in the non-repayment of monetary funds in foreign currency from abroad. The equivalent sum in Russian rubles amounted to almost 272 mln. rubles. As per applicable proceedings, the investigations were allocated to the competent department of Tomsk militia (police) where they are now under consideration. Criminal investigations pursuant to Article 193 of the Russian Criminal Code - "Non-repayment of monetary funds in foreign currency from abroad" - have not been initiated by the Tomsk customs for more than five years.
Furthermore, for the first time in recent years the Tomsk customs initiated administrative investigations against the non-repayment of monetary funds in foreign currency paid for non-imported goods. In other words, the monetary funds in foreign currency have transferred abroad and the paid goods specified by contract have not been imported into Russia. The total amount of non-repaid monetary funds under the investigated case is 660 mln. rubles that is equal to almost $21 mln.
In summary, for the first six months of this year the Tomsk customs imposed fines for the amount of 109 mln. Russian rubles and confiscated goods for the amount of 345 thousand rubles.
